Alex's Reflection on midterm

Team LARS did an excellent job in coming to a final concesus, however if we had stuck to the initial intents of our design i.e. density, and sustainable building materials we would have been more successful. Although we did not formalize our initial design intents, I could see that as the critique of our work by the proffessors moved on I saw that we had made something that was more for subruban than COhousing. Taken our design and placing it out of our mmediate context our design would have worked. However, we were surrounded by lots that partitioned themselves off from eachother, and that was what we did in our scheme unknowingly. We seemed to be afraid of density, and somehow we had 4.5 acres to build on and we used 90% of it. That was our biggest mistake, was to build to fill space, instead of fill space then build. If we truly condense housing and embrace the  community that surrounds the farm we will successfully meet the needs of fields farm and the suburban sydrome.
