- What are the spaces used for? How do you know?
- What is their proportion & character
- How are spaces between houses used?
- How clear is the ownership of spaces?
- Edges: Public - Private transitions: who can enter where? How do you know?
- Nodes: Where do people interact?
- Paths: Where are the cars?
- Landmarks: how do you know you have arrived?
ARCHITEcTURE
- Does the place have curb appeal? What aspects make you like it?How many chunks do you read in the massing? What defines each chunk? (i.e. form, color, materials, openness...)
- How do they relate to human scale? (measure places for people, draw a section & photograph)
- What are their proportions?
- How do the buildings mark entrance or areas of symbolic importance?
- How do they make connection or separation?
NATURE
- How does the landscaping shape space and contribute to the composition?
- Where does the water go?
- How are passive or active solar strategies used?
- Can you see how ventilation might work?
