Solar times are measures of the apparent position of the Sun on the celestial sphere. They are not actually the physical time, but rather hour angles, that is, angles expressed in time units. They are also local times in the sense that they depend on the longitude of the observer.

History
The city of Bend developed around the bend in the Deschutes River in 1905. Lumber and timber are the leasing economic factors along with tourism.

Human Behavior
History
Prior to 1824 the Bend region was known only to Native Americans. However fur trappers discovered the area along the Deschutes river.It wasn't until over 75 years later that the city of Bend developed around that particular area atthe Deschutes River in 1905. Lumber and timber soon became the main enterprise as well as tourism from the Mt. Ski Resort.
While demographics are spread, the vast majority of residents are white, with .28% African American, 0.79% Native American, 1.00% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 1.75% from other races.
As Bend has quickly became one of the fast growing cities in the state expansion has been quite prevelent in past years. While most of the town originally settled near the river, expansion has drawn the UGB outward taward the west making the newer housing settlements much more desirable especially for younger families moving into the area. The eastside has become more of the older less popular areas beasue of its blue-collar tag and location in the lower area of the city while the west side retains the views and other amenities.
The Fields have lived on the site for the past 20 years, and have seen the evolution of their area from farms to residential projects.

Acoustics
The road noise is pretty consistent, load and probably continues all night.
Smells
Seems open so it is probably breezy - smells change and come from around the place.
Compost smells plenty and attracks flies. - this should be isolated
The rain made the place soft and damp smelling of earth and the decaying remains of the summers harvest.
Context
The existing farm should help form the new site, if not in shape at least in ideology
Strengths
-This is a wonderful piece of farm land
-Fertile with plenty of sun, trees and a variety of landscapes for such a flat piece of land
Weaknesses
-The road noise, traffic and the neighborhoods surrounding this site.
-It may be possible to "repair" the community around our site by including them within our plan
Opportunities
-Use the views, mountains
-Use the drop in elvation from the road and exagerate it to block sound
Threats
-people buidling up close and higher around our site and blocking views
